IDSS recognises the role of continuous learning in development, in order to ensure effective development practice. With a mission 'to promote quality learning and contemporary development practice for the benefit of the community', we develop evidence-based training programs that reflect and challenge current international development thinking and approaches.
Our training objectives are to:
- Promote understanding and commitment to, a people-centred approach in development practice
- Facilitate the development and promotion of quality standards for program development and management
- Encourage innovation by facilitating the sharing of skills, experience and expertise amongst the development practitioners
Experienced Practitioners
IDSS offers an annual training schedule of short courses designed to meet the needs of experienced development practitioners.
Emerging Practitioners - Students
IDSS training courses are also suitable for students of international development – the industry’s emerging development practitioners. Students attending IDSS courses with follow-up assessment tasks may claim advanced standing towards their tertiary studies, subject to approval by concerned university/institution.
IDSS also provides tailored programs for higher education institutes meeting the requirements for accredited courses as part of postgraduate degrees in International Development.
Tailored Training Courses
IDSS offers tailored training courses delivered on-site for companies, organisations and government agencies, on request.
Training Associates
We also offer facilities, administration, organisation and marketing networks for selected practitioners or organisations to deliver their training programs at IDSS.
