Objective

The goal of the Australian Government’s HAARP program is to reduce the spread of HIV associated with drug use in South East Asia and China. Based out of Bangkok, the TSU is a facility providing support to the regional program. The TSU provides technical assistance to each of the HAARP country programs. It also coordinates regional training, promotes regional information exchange and supports a limited number of cross border harm reduction activities. In each country the focus is on expanding policy and practices amongst health and law enforcement sectors which will provide an enabling environment for community-based harm reduction services, such as needle exchange and counselling programs. HAARP works closely with UN agencies and other donors in the region.
