IDSS delivers GPS 'Partners' Workshop' in Beijing

The Gender Mainstreaming, Public Participation and Social Impact Management (GPS) project delivered its final 'Partners' Workshop'  in Beijing on 19 Nov 2010 with representatives from AusAID, MOFCOM, NDRC, MWR, MEP, SFA, the All China Women's Federation (ACWF), UN-Women (UNIFEM) and the Asian Development (ADB).

The workshop aimed to report back to Chinese partners on results and lessons learned from GPS and to seek comments and feedback from Chinese partners on how the project has promoted their capacity for mainstreaming GPS into public sector environment and resource management practices as well as to launch the draft 'Bilingual GPS Manual'. The joint project team presented the various project achievements including:

  • Enhanced awareness of GPS
Initial work had been conducted to integrate GPS into other projects funded under ACEDP
  • The bilingual GPS Manual is seen to provide a legacy that goes far beyond the scope of the project itself.
  • Feedback from the partners and donors reached consensus that the project has achieved success as planned.
